I didn't explain it last week, I forgot to, but if you look at last weeks email you will see a picture with me and 2 Elders. That is Elder Little and Elder Shariatmadari, both Alta high school graduates! There is a next Alta Hawk, but he is on the French side of the mission. Small world, ent?
Recently I shared about the Carribean slang word ent. Today, I will share some more vernacular of the culture I am in. This one is a pretty funny one. When someone here really gets what your saying, the don't always say "I understand" they instead will say "I overstand." Because they get it so good, there standing on it is "over." This leads to another saying "you overs?" which is to check if someone gets what your saying. You all overs out there? ;)
Have I ever shared how people don't get my last name here? Very rarely will they get Jeppson. Most common I get Jackson, or Jefferson. My favorite one is Jepperson, that's the best one. I should almost get my name changed to it! Im just kidding, but I think its hilarious.
Cool story of the week would be about our Investigator, Sherry. We had a party with her on my birthday. It involved some strong liquor and some cigarettes, and boy was it a blast! ;) Sherry has been really progressing, and so we felt it was time to teach her the word of wisdom. We taught her and she was down with trying it. She had felt how the gospel was already benefiting her life (she has been so happy as of late with her prayers and scripture study) so she committed to follow it. we then invited her to dump all her alchohol down the drain, and mash up and throw away her cigarettes. She happily did this and the BEST part about this whole story was how her kids were so happy as she was doing this. As the vodka was and smokes were getting disposed of, I heard the little kids (12, 7, and 3 years old) celebrating. She is making choices that has really blessed her family's happiness.

Anyways, we had a fun sports day for all of Trindidad yesterday, and I had a blast. I played football, soccer, and ultimate. I am very sore today, but not sunburnt thankfully. We didn't get to email yesterday because all the shops were closed cause it was Trinidad's independence day. Sunday actually was the holiday here, but if a holiday lands on a weekend, they take the Monday off here. I wouldn't mind so much If I was working. Anwyays, that's all for this week, all I have time for anyways.
Take care, and thanks for my birthday wishes!
