I am glad for the opportunity to write to you today, Its always enjoyable.
Elder Sorensen and I have not been able to get anyone to progress to a date, we do have plenty people that we have talked to and given that chance. We had good stuff planned but it fell through, on Tuesday we had SEVEN member lessons planned, many with referrals, and with different members. When the day came, all the members fell through, and all the appointments but two fell through, that was disappointing. Our numbers for this week is really rough, but that is to be slightly expected from 3 days out of our area!
Yeah Elder Sorensen and I have been struggling to get people to progress, we have met a lot of telestial and terrestrial people this week. We tried! We talk to people, they decline the opportunity to learn more. We have been struggling to even get a person to give us their contact information. Its a great chance for us to hone our finding/teaching skills.
I had a great thing happen to me last night, and it really made me grateful for the principles of prayer and Christ-like leadership. After we had had a lesson for the day and made it back to the apartment, I voiced some concerns to Elder Sorensen. The conversation started to get to a point where it felt like it would head towards contention, so I followed (after fighting it for a moment) a prompting to step into the other room and say a prayer before continuing, asking the Lord to guide me in what I say and soften both of our hearts. I returned and began again to speak with him and what happened next was amazing. I was able to voice my concerns in a non-offensive way and Elder Sorensen really opened up. He began acknowledging what I was saying, committed to work on it, and then really opened up to me and shared with me some of his personal fears. I encouraged him the best I could, reassured him as much as possible, and was very grateful for how it all turned out. I felt a love for him and I know that that prayer before hand changed everything. How grateful I am for prayer!
Conference was great, Its amazing how fast it goes. When I was back home it would go so slow, but now it fly's by and is super enjoyable. I guess you get out what you put in, and I sure get a lot out of it now, I can't wait for every conference now! The Batemans (our senior couple) was really nice to us to give us crepes Saturday morning for a delicious conference breakfast. I love traditions like that too. On Sunday we had a lunch between sessions and I made a rainbow jello salad to go with it. It was great, but I the first time I made the whipped cream for the top I whipped it too much and made butter, but I learned better and didn't mess up the 2nd time. ;) I wasn't such a huge fan of the translated talks because I found that the translators were really monotonous, I got bored, and it was harder to focus in those ones. still a cool new feature to allow more to speak. Our connection was not so great and we had a lot of buffering and missed entire talks, which we had to catch up on between sessions.
We traveled up north to get our interviews with president in, and it took the whole day. Its not that far, but the travel isn't efficient and there was bad traffic. In total we spent 9 hours either in vehicles or waiting for vehicles. I don't like public transport too much.
