This week was a good week, we did a lot of work, got pretty fair results for it, and had a lot of interesting things happen that require telling.
The spiritual highlight of the week was we had branch conference this sunday, and we had a good turnout at church and we had Mustapha and Br. Bernard (both recent converts) bless the sacrament for the first time. It was so cool to see the growth here where local members are now getting to do the sacrament not the missionaries, what a blessing that is for the people here! It was a good branch conference too, with 34 people in attendance. A main topic was how the people are losing blessings by not obeying the law of tithing.
A next cool thing is there was this massive ring around the moon, I have no idea what it meant, but it was there, and it was cool. And it was cool that it was there. Yeah, really, not too interesting, but it made for some weird photos. Im glad I took digital photography in high school so I know how to take pics of the moon at night somewhat decently.
There is something called the Housing Development Corportation here, and the build stuff called HDCs. Basically low income goverments supplemented housing. anyways, there is this area where they were building some, but it got stopped half way through for some reason. We walked through it all over and looked in a few random buildings. Such a waste, but it makes excellent grazing areas for peoples goats. It felt like walking through some sort of apocalyptic war zone.
A next thing is we broke a lady's couch. Me, E. Cox, and a member all were on this lady's couch and it just broke when we were about to say the opening prayer. It was fine, she said she was going to through it out anyways and it was old and eaten by wood termite things, but I still felt bad, but I feel more amused now. (no, im not gaining weight)
Good news is we should be getting bicycles this week, so I hope we will be zipping around all over and getting more lessons in, and less time spent walking.
(BEST FOR LAST) The craziest thing that happened this week was on Tuesday we heard a puppy whining for its life behind our apartment area. Wednesday, we still heard it whining. We got annoyed at this and wanted to see who was responsible. long story short, we found a little puppy, about a month old, stuck in the gutter/trench (its like 8 feet across). This of course twinged our heart strings and so we had to go pull it out. Sadly, due to point fortin having lots of oil, it was COVERED in crude raw oil. so we saved it from drowning (it couldn't get up the banks) but then were stuck with this oily puppy. our consciences again forced us to try to wash him. This failed as crude oil is a PAIN to get out of fur. So, we went to the store and got some liquid dish soap to try and get it out. This worked mildly well but was still quite messy. We tied her up outside our apartment and tended to her as we could while arranging for her to go to a members home to live. Eventually, 2 days later, she got to a members home and now lives there. He got her finished up and all clean. We named her Gutter, for obvious reasons.
That was our fun week, long email. probably not as much next week. until then, take care and have fun!
This computer is being super slow, so sorry if not all the pictures were uploaded, I ran out of time, lame internet speed.
