First off, I forgot to inform everyone about the picture of a corolla stuck in the mud last week, i sent the pic but forgot to talk about it cause time was short. Basically there was a deep mud spot on the side of the road that my comp didn't see and we got stuck when we tried to pull to the side cause there was a next car down the road that would need to get out. we had to wait till the other elders came and pulled us out with a rope while we were pushing. After we cleaned it up and I put the parts back on, the bumper is still a little messed up. Oh well, it was like that before from the same thing happening to the previous missionaries. This week was slow and hard, not a lot of people met with us. our solid appoinments and back up appoinments mostly fell through, which was annoying so we spent a lot of time finding, which was great cause we found 2 seperate people that are really promising, a guy named Mark and a guy named John. They both are doing great. A great plus that helped me be encouraged this week is I got a christmas package that was sent in November so i enjoyed some candy chocolates, sunflower seeds, and Jaffa Cakes. that always helps raise the spirits. So we had an awesome thing happen to us this week, heres a picture of it!
We were walking to our car in one of our more ghetto areas when theres this group of thug looking guys breezing out with some boxing gloves, and of course when they see the white guys walk by, they want to challenge us to a little fun boxing. We were a little hesitant, but my companion Elder Christ volunteered me, and so i boxed a guy, (don't worry, it was all for fun and everyone was laughing and cheering) in the street in the ghettos. My companion sucked at camera and so i have no pics of me, but he did get a blurry video, which I uploaded onto dropbox for my family to see if they want to see me jumping around and boxing for the first time. Anyways, after I boxed, it was my comps turn, and as he went up to try, the guy i boxed switched his gloves to this huge guy. Karma for volunteering me. We had fun and didn't do badly, and now these guys respect us and like us, which is tight.
Technically in the handbook we are not supposed to do contact sports, but we forgot that, and it was good natured and helped our relation in that area, so don't think we were intentionally breaking a rule.
Thats all I got this week, I hope you all are good, and enjoyed my story.
I suppose a spiritual thought for this week since I have time for it would be that we need not be confused on subjects like the word of wisdom, sabbath day, or other teachings. the only real question to be resolved is wether or not Joseph Smith was a prophet, and it Thomas S Monson is a prohet on the earth today. Once we know of that from the spirit, nothing else need be of concern. If we are trying to help others find the restored gospel, then we should focus on the book of mormon and the prophets, because those truly are the key stones to our religion. I know this church is true, and I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet. I know by way of the spirit. I bear that testimony in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
