Week 1 of Transfer 7

11/25/2013

This was a full week, with my new transfer in this new area.  Blanking it has been a bit of a challenge, but things are starting to get rolling now.  This P-day is going to be nice, we are getting all the missionaries on Trinidad together and going to sing christmas carols in a large public square, and then afterwards, we are going to have a thanksgiving feast at the mission home, with all the missionaries.  Will be AWESOME!!!    My new branch down here in Arima is pretty nice, the building is pretty good, no A/C but still a good clean quiet place for it, much better than curepes.  Our Branch President is awesome, his name is President Franzique and the most striking feature about him is he has a sweet rast (like dreadlocks) and a super deep voice.
Our apartment is nice, although we have 4 elders in it when it really should be just a 2 man, so sleeping is cramped, but we have fun.  We convinced an elder to do the cinnamon challenge (look it up on youtube if you don't know what it is) which was hilarious and we got some good laughs out of it, but then to make it even better, when he went to get a drink cause it was really dry, the water was shut off.  maybe you had to be there, but it was really funny.
Me and my companion found a massive dog while we were contacting, and we got some fun pictures of us with it.  It kinda rejected our message!
In the branch one of the lady's is deaf and so she using sign language and is trying to teach people in the branch to speak sign language, which is going well because we are now learning to do sign so we can speak with here and visit her.  I know the alphabet and the colors and 1-20 so far.  not too useful yet.  :\
i am having more fun here than I did in Curepe i think, so I and very happy to be here.   I hope you all do well, and be happy in the gospel of Jesus Christ!

week 6 of transfer 6 done

11/18/2013

starting transfer 7 this week.  I am getting transfered to an area close by, same mailing address btw, so don't worry about that.  I have no pics this week, kinda a boring week for story wise.  Thankfully I am still close by so I can come for the baptisms of our 2 investigators, one this saturday, one on 14th of December. My new companion will be an elder Christ, he sounds like a fun guy, I met him a few times.  we should be able to do good work there.  I hope you all have a good week, and I will try to have interesting things for next week.  man, this p-day is going to be a little lame, we have to run people to and from the Airport and it will take time.  oh well.  I won't be a JCAP next transfer so less errands and more sleep!   sounds nice to me.

week 5 of transfer 6

11/11/2013

Not a lot of time this week, had other things to attend to and my typing is a bit slower with the wrist stabilizer.
This week I got to play a flute, which was cool.  a senior couple had one and I picked it up and was able to play it.  I forgot a lot in the 2 years I haven't played it but I still managed to play spirit of god.  That was cool.
We had 1 less active come to church and 3 of our investigators who all have dates for baptism.  one on the 23rd and 2 seperate ones on the 30th and I am very confident in 2 of them.
We have zone conference this week, so it should be fun.  I am looking forward most to the food I think.  How cold is it back home?  its been rainy this week and a little cool.  anyways, have a good time this week!

So yeah, my wrist is now in this thingy.
we were teaching this lesson up in the bush near the mountain when an anaconda came out of the rafters of this investigators old house and attacked my companion.  I tried pulling it off him but when the snake saw that he wrapped around my wrist and sprained it.  My companion was saved though but the snake hurt my wrist before we got a machette and killed it.
Yeah I wish that was so, would have been cooler than what happened.  apparently there is a cyst of some sort on my nerve in my wrist and it is making it really hurt to move so i have to have this wrist stabilizer on it for 2 weeks so i don't agitate this thing and hopefully the cyst will go away.  fun times!  I have had it on for 20 minutes and its already bugging me.

week 4 of transfer 6

11/4/2013

This week had a lot of hard work in it and it went fast, even though there was a hindu holiday called "dew-all-e" (spelt differently, but pronounced that way)  because of it, most of our appoinments fell through friday-sunday.   Its a festival of lights, like light over darkness and they light tons of stuff, fireworks, candles, everything.  pretty cool, and they hand out lots of free food to people too.  Hindus are very kind and hospitable, even though I can't pronounce their dishes, I eat them all the same.   On a more negative side a good friend of ours had to go to the hospital in Port of Spain and we went to give here a visit there and wow, I am grateful for american medical care, that hospital was old, they had no A/C in the wards, just the breeze to cool with the windows open.  Hopefully she starts to get better.  The hospital really reminded me of hospital levels in games like left 4 dead or call of duty zombies.  creepy, doesn't help that it was at night.
we had 2 investigators at church.  Its nice to be able to see the results of our work and diligence.
This monday morning we went to maracas beach waterfall and it was a blast!  we found a vine to swing on, got to enjoy a nice hike in the jungle and had a rewarding cool mist of a massive waterfall as a treat.  the water wasn't running to hard today as it hasn't rained in a while, but the height is pretty great.  Because of dewalli there were little shrines along the trail with candles, food, and some coins chilling around.  just sitting on rocks and things.  They believe their Gods need to eat and so they leave it out for them.  Fun trip though
I hope this week goes well, the trip put it off to a good start, but things have a way of not ending so well it seems.  I love you all and thank you for your prayers in my behalf.
