This was a good week, we achieved many of our goals, and we saw success. The spirit was really guiding us in our efforts, and we saw a lot of good things happen because we followed the promptings we received. For example, we were driving to an appointment when I got a prompting to stop and try seeing an inactive lady we were driving near. We stopped and I had the opportunity to help her fix something that someone had broken in her car. They had ripped out the center console to fix something else and said that it couldn't be fixed or put back. After looking at it for a minute I figured it out and fixed it. She was very happy and I feel that had a big factor to play when she allowed us to then share a message with her. At the end of it she committed to come to church next week. I am glad I listened to the spirit's prompting and that my particular skills were able to help open a door for us!
Last P-day we visited the mangroves and while out there we climbed out on into the thick of them and just watched it all for a while, it was really nice.
Right now I'm not driving our regular Chevy Cruze, I am driving the sisters Corolla (like the one dad has, but right hand drive) to try to figure out why its been giving them the trouble it has been giving lately. apparently it bogs down sometimes, but Its only done it for me once, I think I just needed someone who had a heavier foot to drive it. I like the corolla much more. smoother ride, lighter doors, telescoping wheel, softer seats, lighter steering, and so much more. Don't ever buy a Chevy Cruze. Just don't do it. I only drive it cause its a tool and i have no other choice.
Next Sunday we have a special Caribbean conference that is being broadcast from Salt Lake. Elders Jeffrey R. Holland and Boyd K. Packer from the Quorum of the 12 will be speaking, and it is going to be very uplifting I feel.
Our phones were giving trouble this week. For 2 days they were down, because apparently the whole mission had gone over its "credit limit." It KILLED our work, we couldn't confirm any of our appointments or set up members or even do our nightly calls. I sure do look forward to having a smart phone on a reliable states network! We were very relieved to have our phones back up when they came up.
Andre is all set to get baptised this upcoming Saturday. He is very excited. In his own words "I can't wait to taste the salt!!!" He is ready and is going to love it. He has been getting anti'd steadily but he tells us about how no one can tell him that this isn't true! He can't deny the way he feels when he reads the Book of Mormon. Its funny, he actually described it thus "...It makes you feel like your drunk man!" It was really funny, I guess he has been feeling the spirit very strong. Hey, its hard to describe sometimes, so that works I guess.
Another great thing happen as we were teaching a guy names Oswald, that reminded me of a quote from Legrand Richards when he has said quoting a minister he taught on his first mission: "They are teaching us things we have never heard of, and they are doing it out of our own Bibles!" As we were sharing the second half of the plan of salvation the topic got deep on topics about the spirit prison, how Christ ministered to the souls there (1st peter 3:19), about the kingdoms of glory as shared in 1st corinthians 15:40-41, and about baptisms for the dead, which is also in 1st corinthians 15 I believe. I'm glad I had a knowledge of these verses, and it was great to see how true the restored gospel is!
Oh, one random now, by the END of this week, don't bother sending any more letters to me, they may not reach in 3 weeks to get to me before I leave, and I would hate to waste letters and your time. :) Your welcome to send them to my home address however...
Wow what a big letter, I hope you took the time to read it all, if not, at least enjoy the pictures...
